Advanced
Bible Studies
The advanced Bible studies are designed for in depth reflection
and are recommended for small groups and Bible study classes.
Dealing
with Problems
Has a friend ever shared a problem with you? Did you feel that the
problem was too big for you to handle? Lets get more personal! Have
you ever had a problem that you felt was too big to handle?
What did you do about it? When we are faced with problems in life,
we often feel like they are too big to be solved. In this study,
we will learn what to do when we have a problem.
Telling the Truth
Have you ever lied to your parents? How did you feel after? Did
you eventually tell your parents that you lied to them? Can you
think of some reasons why people don’t tell the truth? I can! Some
people they lie because they don’t want to get into trouble. Others
lie to get something they really think they want. And there are
some who lie because they want to give other people a hard time.
In this study, we will learn about the consequences of not
telling the truth.
Sharing with
Others (NOT YET
AVAILABLE)
What would you do if your friend forgot to bring lunch to school?
How about if you had an umbrella on a rainy day, and a person going
in the same direction was getting soaked? Or, what would you do
if your parents gave you lots of gifts for Christmas and you knew
that there were people in your community who did not get any gifts?
Can I ask another question? How do you feel when you hear about
people in different countries who have no food, clothes or even
parents? In this lesson, we will learn about the joy of sharing.
Doing the
Right Thing (NOT
YET AVAILABLE)
If everyone in your class gets new sneakers, do you have to get
some too? If your friends ask you to join them in doing something
bad, will you be a bad friend if you said “no”? What if an older
person told you to do something that goes against what God says,
what would you say to them? Do you sometimes feel that people will
not like you if you don’t do bad things with them? In this lesson,
we will learn about doing the right thing at all times.
Spending
Time with God (NOT
YET AVAILABLE)
How much time do you spend watching television every day? How much
time do you spend playing games or sports every day? Can I get more
personal? How much time do you spend studying the Bible, praying,
reading good books or helping others every day? In this lesson,
we will learn about what it means to spend time with God.
Making a
Difference (NOT
YET AVAILABLE)
Has the amount of trash in the school yard ever bothered you? Have
you ever felt like starting a project to feed the homeless? Do the
older people in your family and church act more like fighting cats
than faithful Christians? Do you feel as if you are too young to
do something about it? In this lesson, we will learn about how young
people can make a difference in the world.
Hearing God’s
Voice (NOT YET AVAILABLE)
If God told you to do something, would you do it? We read about
God speaking to people in the Bible, but does he speak to people
today? Has God every spoken to you or someone you know? How can
you know if God is speaking to you? Are you too young to hear the
voice of God? In this lesson, we will learn about how we can hear
God’s voice.
Believing
in Miracles (NOT
YET AVAILABLE)
Do you know what a miracle is? A miracle is an event that humans
cannot explain. Some miracles happen so often that we don’t even
think about them. For instance, a miracle takes place when a caterpillar
turns into a butterfly. Or when you use a cellular phone and your
voice travels thousands of miles through electro-magnetic waves
in a split second, this is a miracle. In this lesson, we will learn
about other miracles and the One who is responsible for them.
Living for
the Kingdom (NOT
YET AVAILABLE)
Have you ever met someone from a different country? Did they speak
the same language as you? Did they wear the same kind of clothes
or listen to the same type of music as you? Did their country have
the same leader as your’s? Did you know that although we were born
in certain places, all Christians are really from a different country?
Did you know that although we respect the leaders of the countries
in which we live, we have another leader? In this lesson, we will
learn about our real country.
Almost 1,830 years before Abraham Lincoln proclaimed liberty to
all Americans, Jesus the Son of God and humanity emerged from a
stony grave to proclaim that the whole world had been emancipated
from the sin that had kept us in captivity ever since our parents
were deceived in Eden. The mighty act of liberation was the beginning
of the age of jubilee for all humanity. It gave us a reason to celebrate!
But just like the Negro slaves of America who discovered too quickly
that the emancipation proclamation did not immediately alter their
enslaved circumstances, the inhabitants of the earth have discovered
that the entire salvation process takes more than an instant.
In this study, we will learn about GOD’S WAY OF SALVATION.
God's
Way of Being God
Much to the dismay of the pseudo-scientists who wish to declare
God illogical and consequentially non-existent, God continues to
be God. In fact, billions of people around the globe call on his
name every day as a living testimony the existential skepticism
of the scientists of hopelessness has done nothing to alter the
experiential faith of these celebrants of hope. In this study we
will humbly investigate GOD’S WAY OF BEING GOD.
God's
Way of Reconciling the World
As the whip connected with his back for the twelfth and final time
and separated the black skin from the pink flesh, the red blood
oozed from his vessels and ran down Mr. Ferguson’s back–covering
the rule book which sat on the table where Mr. Ferguson had positioned
his weak body. Thereupon he struggled to his feet and addressed
the boys in the class: “You are all forgiven, your debt has been
paid in full.” With this act, the entire class was once again reconciled
to their beloved teacher. In this lesson we will discover a greater
love as we investigate GOD’S WAY OF RECONCILING THE WORLD
TO HIMSELF.
God's
Way of Testing Our Commitment Was it right for Richard to purchase a $750,000 luxury
car when his own brothers and sisters whom he had not seen did not
even have enough money feed their families? But he deserved the
car, didn’t he? Hadn’t God blessed him with the profits?
Didn’t Solomon and Lot have riches? He had done his part in his
home church. Couldn’t some other philanthropist help these
people?
What should Richard do? You may not be in the same financial position
as Richard, but what would you do if facing a similar situation?
Lets see if God’s word can help us answer these questions as we
studyGOD’S WAY OF TESTING OUR COMMITMENT.
God's
Way of Accepting Our Appreciation Then it happened. Just before his forty-fifth birthday,
Bill experienced a heart attack. He was so young, but death had
come knowing at his door. He was rushed to the emergency room and
a team of experts worked around the clock to mend his heart. Fortunately,
they were successful and Bill was granted a second chance to live.
After the operation, the head surgeon stopped by the recovery room
and Bill was ecstatic. “Thank you ever so much,” he exclaimed with
tears in his eyes, “I will always appreciate what you have done
for me.” The surgeon replied, “Bill, the best way to show your appreciation
is by slowing down and given your body a chance to rest as you think
about what really matters in life.” Today, God wants us to show
our appreciation to him by giving our minds and bodies a chance
to rest. As we study this lesson, we will discover GOD'S
WAY OF ACCEPTING OUR APPRECIATION.
Getting
to Know God's Son Have you ever wondered how God looks? We often hear pastors
and theologians refer to him as a “person,” and artists often depict
him as a strong old man with grey hair and a bushy beard. All of
our attempts to define God are really futile. The truth is, God
is so mysterious that it is impossible for any artist, pastor, theologian
or teacher to portray him. Because of our limitations, our loving
God decided that he would make himself known to us. He did this
through his Son, Jesus. In this lesson, we will study the basic
biblical teachings about Jesus.
Getting
to Know God's Church
The Greek word for church, ekklesia, does not refer to a
building or a specific organization, but to a group of people who
united together for a common cause. The word is not unique to Christianity,
but was used to describe various organizations in the ancient Greek
and Roman world. The term actually means those who are “called out.”
God has always had a called out people, but it is important to remember
that the invitation to be a part of his church is given to every
one and not just to a select few. Over the years, God’s called out
people could be found in many nations. In the Bible, we read about
those who received a special call like Noah, Abraham, Jacob and
Moses. However, we also read about others like Melchizedek, Abimelech,
Ruth, Jethro and Zipporah. With the coming of Jesus to earth, God’s
church is now identified as those who accept Jesus as the Saviour
from sin and the Ruler of God’s Kingdom. In this study, we will
take a look at five signs of God’s church.
